The Problem Solver
I am no stranger to the occasional zit, from puberty to now well into my 40's I have struggled with those pesky red bumps. I have tried numerous products over the years, with ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, witch hazel, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, sulphur, etc... but they always left my skin feeling dried out and irritated.
Zits, pimples, acne, whatever you want to call them form when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. This could happen because your hormones are not correctly balanced, or maybe you aren't drinking enough water and are eating poorly. However, the main culprit I believe is that we are simply over drying our skin. The gimmicky world of marketing leads us to believe we need squeaky clean skin, but when you use a drying cleanser, or a harsh zit cream everyday it can cause the skin to produce an over abundance of oil to compensate for the dryness.
What I have learned, just like everything else in life, is that the skin needs to be balanced. I created the Problem Solver to get rid of the zit but maintain the balance the skin needs to heal. The star ingredient out of the 3 used is Tamanu oil, which is an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, non comedogenic oil that is safe to use on acneic skin. It also helps to promote cell turnover, but at a much safer rate than the harsher acne fighting ingredient of benzoyl peroxide. The second ingredient, Jojoba oil is hands down one of my favorite oils for the skin because it mimics the skin’s sebum and helps balance out the complexion. In addition it also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties just like Tamanu oil. I tend to stay away from too many essential oils, but lavender is one of those oils I believe to be very therapeutic for the skin. It is moisturizing, anti-bacterial, and the smell is calming making it the perfect third ingredient to round out the Problem Solver. This product is also a life saver if you deal with ingrown hairs!
